Jezebel
JEH-zeh-bell
Who is Jezebel?
Jezebel was the Phoenician wife of King Ahab of Israel, daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, who led Israel into Baal worship and killed the prophets of the LORD (1 Kings 16:31, 1 Kings 18:4). She seized Naboth's vineyard by murder and met a violent end at Jezreel under Jehu (1 Kings 21:7, 2 Kings 9:30). The name is later used in Revelation for a false prophetess who seduced Christ's servants into idolatry (Revelation 2:20).
