DZHEE-hyoo
Who is Jehu?
Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, was anointed king over Israel by a prophet sent by Elisha and charged to destroy the house of Ahab and avenge the LORD's prophets (2 Kings 9:6). He killed King Jehoram with an arrow (2 Kings 9:24) and wiped out all that remained of Ahab's house in Jezreel (2 Kings 10:11). The name is also borne by Jehu the son of Hanani, a prophet who spoke the LORD's word against King Baasha (1 Kings 16:1).
