Who is Shemaiah?
Shemaiah is a Hebrew name borne by many different men in the Old Testament, including Levites, priests, and prophets. The best known is Shemaiah the man of God and prophet in the days of King Rehoboam, who delivered the LORD's word forbidding war against the northern tribes (1 Kings 12:22) and later told Rehoboam that Shishak's invasion came because Judah had forsaken the LORD (2 Chronicles 12:5).
