Maon

What is Maon?
Maon was a town in the hill country of Judah, listed alongside Carmel and Ziph (Joshua 15:55), and its surrounding wilderness is where David hid while Saul pursued him (1 Samuel 23:24). Nabal, the wealthy sheep owner, was a man of Maon (1 Samuel 25:2). The name is also used for a man in the genealogy of Judah, called the father of Bethzur (1 Chronicles 2:45).
