Megiddo

What is Megiddo?
Megiddo was a fortified Canaanite city whose king was among those defeated by Israel (Joshua 12:21). It was allotted to Manasseh, though its inhabitants were not driven out (Judges 1:27), and the Canaanite kings fought Israel 'by the waters of Megiddo' (Judges 5:19). Solomon later fortified it (1 Kings 9:15), and King Josiah was mortally wounded there fighting Pharaoh Necho and carried back dead to Jerusalem (2 Kings 23:29, 2 Kings 23:30).
