Kadesh
KAY-dehsh
What is Kadesh?
Kadesh was a settlement and wilderness area on the southern edge of the land, in the desert of Zin, where Israel camped for a long time during the wilderness wanderings (Numbers 20:1, Deuteronomy 1:46). Miriam died and was buried there, it was where the spies returned with the fruit of the land (Numbers 13:26), and nearby were the waters of strife, or Meribah (Numbers 27:14).
