What is Kirjath Arba?
Kirjath Arba, written Kirjatharba in the KJV, was the older name of Hebron in the land of Canaan, and Sarah died there and Abraham came to mourn for her (Genesis 23:2). Joshua 14:15 notes that Arba was a great man among the Anakims. The city was appointed in the mountain of Judah among the cities of refuge (Joshua 20:7), and Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt there and slew Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai (Judges 1:10).
