Who is Ahitub?
Ahitub is a priestly name borne by more than one man in the line of Aaron. One Ahitub was the father of the priest Ahimelech of Nob, whom Saul summoned and condemned (1 Samuel 22:11, 1 Samuel 22:12), and grandfather of Abiathar who escaped to David (1 Samuel 22:20). Another Ahitub was the father of Zadok the priest (2 Samuel 8:17) and appears in the priestly genealogies of the sons of Aaron (1 Chronicles 6:7, 1 Chronicles 6:8).
