Think upon the day when thou shalt die—when thy soul is separated from thy flesh, when thou leavest thy substance for another, and when thou goest upon the path thou knowest not. Consider the tribulation that shall come upon thee.

The demons that shall receive thee are evil; their countenances are hideous and they are terrible in their appearance. They shall not hearken unto thy words, and thou shalt not hearken unto theirs.

Because thou didst not do the Will of thy Creator, they shall not hear thee in thy supplication when thou dost entreat them; for this cause they shall utterly terrify thee.

But those who fulfilled the Will of the Lord have no fear, for the demons fear them. Howbeit, demons shall mock the souls of the wicked.

But the souls of the righteous shall be joyful with the Angels in gladness; they shall be made joyful because they despised this world. But evil angels shall receive the souls of the wicked.

Angels of mercy shall receive the souls of the kind and righteous; they are sent from the Lord to comfort the souls of the just. Even as evil angels are sent from the Devil to mock the souls of the wicked, so shall demons receive the souls of the ungodly.

O ye that transgress, woe unto you! Weep for yourselves before the day of your death cometh—before the time ye stand before the Lord.

Enter ye into repentance in your present age before your time passeth away, that ye might dwell in joy and gladness without tribulation or affliction. Since your time shall not return once ye have died, weep now.

Lest ye follow a vain path that distanceth you from the Lord, let love be lavished in your self-reproach, that gluttony and exceeding pleasure be not found in you. As a body that is filled without measure shall not think upon the Name of the Lord, the substance of the Devil shall dwell therein. Since the Holy Spirit shall not dwell in such a man, let not those exceeding pleasures be found in you.

As Moses spake: Jacob did eat and was satisfied; he waxed fat, and was grown tall and broad, and the Lord who created him was separated from him.

And his manner of life distanced him from the Lord. As a body filled without measure or temperance shall not think upon the Name of the Lord, let not the love of exceeding pleasures be found among you. Since a belly full without measure is as a swine or a horse gone astray, let not immoderate eating, drinking, or whoredom be found in you.

But a man who eateth with temperance shall live, strengthened by the succour of the Lord; he shall be steadfast as the horizon or as a tower girt with a wall of stone. A man who forgetteth the Law of the Lord shall flee even when none pursueth him.

A righteous man shall live in honour, as a lion.

But those who love not the Lord shall not keep His Law, and their understanding is not upright.

The Lord shall bring sorrow and dismay upon them whilst they are in this world—they shall be seized with trembling and dread, and with tribulations without number. Their substance shall be snatched away, and they shall be bound by their hands in fetters by their masters...

lest they be among those who rest from tribulation, and lest their manner of life be one of joy. Lest they find rest in the midst of the fearful tribulations that come upon each of them, He shall bring sorrow and dismay upon them.
