Know the Lord who created thee; as He created thee in His Features and Likeness whilst thou art upon the Earth, forget not the Lord who established thee, saved thee, and whom Israel glorified. He placed thee in the Garden that thou mightest be joyful and tend the Earth.

When thou didst break His Commandment, He sent thee forth from the Garden unto this world—which He cursed because of thee—that groweth nettles and thorns.

For thou art of the Earth, and she is of the Earth; thou art dust, and she is dust; thou art soil, and she is soil. Thou art fed by the grain found from her, and unto her thou shalt return. Thou shalt be soil until He chooseth to raise thee, and He shall examine the iniquities thou hast committed and all thy transgression.

Know what thou shalt answer Him at that time. Consider the good and the evil thou didst in this world; examine whether the evil or the good should abound—prove thine own self.

If thou do good, it is a good thing for thee, that thou mightest be joyful on the day when the dead do arise.

But if thou do evil, woe unto thee! For thou shalt receive affliction according to the work of thy hands and the evil of thy understanding. If thou do an evil thing unto thy fellow and fear not the Lord, thou shalt receive thy affliction.

And if thou betray thy fellow, and if thou call upon the Name of the Lord and swear a falsehood—as thou shalt receive affliction according to thy work—woe unto thee.

Thou tellest lies unto thy fellow, making them appear as the Truth, though thou knowest thou hast spoken a lie.

Thou persuadest those about thee with thy falsehoods as though they were the Truth, multiplying things that are not true; thou shalt receive affliction according to thy iniquity. Thou deniest thy fellow whilst telling him, I will give unto thee, that which thou hast no purpose of giving.

When thou sayest I will give in thy pure understanding, demons make use of thee as dogs; they cause thee to forget all things. Whether thou withholdest or desirest to give, they know not the man for whom they heap up riches. As it hath been said: They shall wax fat—the riches of this world do entice thee that thou mightest fatten the substance that shall not profit thee and that thou shalt not eat thereof.

And again, as it hath been said: The lying children of Adam make a false balance. As for them, they go from robbery unto robbery; the riches of this world do entice thee.

O ye people, set not your hope in crooked scales and balances, in the taking of another's substance, in gathering riches through transgression, in trespassing upon thy fellow's goods, or in stealing his field. Put away all the falsehoods ye do for your own gain at the cost of your fellow.

If ye do this, ye shall receive your affliction according to your work.

O ye people, be fed by the honest labour of your hands; desire not robbery. Love not to plunder and to consume the substance of another without justice or by what is not due.

Even if ye eat thereof, it shall not satisfy you. When ye die, ye shall leave it for another; even if ye wax fat thereon, it shall not profit you.

And if thy substance increase, let it not corrupt thy understanding. As the riches of the wicked are as smoke from a griddle that the wind carrieth away, the small portion of substance gathered in Truth is better than the wealth of the ungodly.
