What Does God Say About Body Image?
You see your body more than anyone else does, and you judge it harder than anyone else would. Mirrors, photos, and other people's highlight reels keep the case open all day. Scripture speaks about the body with a strange calm. It never flatters, and it never despises. The Bible says your body was made on purpose, carries the image of God, and houses His Spirit. That is a higher claim than any compliment and a stronger defense than any critique. Hold your reflection up to these verses and see which voice is telling the truth.
6 Scriptures for Body Image?
“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
Psalm 139:13-14
David locates his worth in the workmanship, not the mirror. Covered in the womb means woven together, deliberately, thread by thread. Fearfully and wonderfully made is not a feeling David has about himself. It is a fact he praises God for, and he adds that his soul knows it right well. Your soul can know what your eyes keep disputing.

This is the first thing Scripture says about the human body: it carries the image of God. Not the edited body. The body. Before there were standards to fail, there was an image to bear, and you still bear it. Contempt for the work says something about your view of the Maker.

God says this while passing over the tall, impressive brother and choosing David, the overlooked one. Man looketh on the outward appearance. That is not a rebuke of you. It is a description of everyone around you, and an admission that their measurements miss the point. God's eyes go where the mirror cannot.

Paul reframes the body entirely. Not an ornament to be ranked, but a temple, occupied by the Holy Ghost, purchased at full price. You do not maintain a temple to impress the neighbors. You honor it because of who lives there. Care for your body flows from worth, not toward it.

Peter writes to women in a culture obsessed with braided hair and gold, and he does not say beauty is wrong. He relocates it. The hidden man of the heart is beauty that is not corruptible: it cannot age, fade, or go out of style. And God prices it Himself, at great price. His pricing holds when the market's does not.

Vain here means fleeting, a breath. Solomon is not insulting beauty. He is warning you against building on it, because it cannot hold weight. What gets praised at the end of this woman's story is her reverence, not her reflection.
