What Does God Say About Self-Worth?
Self-worth is a question you usually ask the mirror, and the mirror is a poor judge. It reflects your worst day back at you and calls it the whole story. Scripture measures differently. It begins with who made you, what He thinks of the work, and what He was willing to pay to keep you. On that scale, your value was settled before you accomplished anything at all. These verses walk through what God says you are worth. Read them as if they are about you, because they are.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
Genesis 1:27
This is the first thing the Bible says about you. Before sin, before failure, before anyone else's opinion, you carry the image of God. Value in Scripture is not earned at the bottom of the page. It is stamped at the top, before you had done anything.

Psalm 139:13-14
David is describing craftsmanship. Possessed, covered, formed in the dark by hands that knew exactly what they were making. You were not mass produced. Fearfully and wonderfully made is not a compliment. It is a manufacturing record.

Isaiah 43:4
God says this to Israel in exile, at the bottom of their history. Precious, honourable, loved. Not because they performed well; the same chapter recounts their failures. His valuation held anyway, and it holds on your worst day too.

Matthew 10:29-31
Jesus prices it out. Two sparrows for a farthing, one of the smallest coins in circulation, and not one hits the ground unnoticed. Then the line that should end the argument: the hairs of your head are numbered. God does not track worthless things at that resolution. You are counted because you count.

Ephesians 2:10
Workmanship translates a Greek word that gives us poem. You are something God composed. And notice the order Paul locks in: created unto good works, not because of them. The value comes first. The work flows out of it.

Peter stacks titles on ordinary, scattered, struggling believers: chosen, royal, holy, His own. These were people the empire counted as nothing. God answered their worth with a coronation. It is His answer to yours as well.

God, I have been letting the wrong voices set my price. I measure myself by what I produce, how I compare, and who approves, and I always come up short. You say I am Your workmanship, made on purpose, precious in Your sight. Help me believe You over the mirror. Settle my worth where You settled it, and teach me to live from it instead of chasing it. Amen.
