Uzziah

yoo-ZAI-uh

Who is Uzziah?

Uzziah was a king of Judah, made king at sixteen and reigning fifty-two years in Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 26:1, 2 Chronicles 26:3). After growing strong he presumed to burn incense in the temple, and was struck with leprosy on his forehead, remaining a leper until his death (2 Chronicles 26:19, 2 Chronicles 26:21). Isaiah dates his call to 'the year that king Uzziah died' (Isaiah 6:1).
