Who is Shaphan?
Shaphan the son of Azaliah was the scribe of King Josiah of Judah. When Hilkiah the high priest found the book of the law in the house of the LORD, he gave it to Shaphan, who read it before the king (2 Kings 22:8, 2 Kings 22:10). His son Ahikam was among the officials Josiah sent to inquire of the LORD, and his grandson Gedaliah was later made ruler over Judah (2 Kings 22:12, 2 Kings 25:22).
