Pashur
PASH-uhr
Who is Pashur?
Pashur is the name of more than one priest in Scripture, and it also heads a priestly family listed among the returning exiles (Ezra 2:38). The most fully described is Pashur the son of Immer, a priest and chief governor in the house of the LORD, who struck the prophet Jeremiah and put him in the stocks; Jeremiah then renamed him Magormissabib and foretold his captivity in Babylon (Jeremiah 20:1).
