Who is Hoshea?

Hoshea was the son of Elah and the last king of the northern kingdom of Israel, reigning nine years in Samaria until the king of Assyria captured the city and carried Israel into exile (2 Kings 17:1, 2 Kings 17:6). The name was also borne by Joshua the son of Nun before Moses renamed him (Deuteronomy 32:44).
