Haran

What is Haran?
Haran is both a man and a city in Genesis. The man was Terah's son, Abram's brother, and the father of Lot, who died in Ur of the Chaldees (Genesis 11:27, Genesis 11:28); the city was the place in Mesopotamia where Terah settled and died (Genesis 11:31, Genesis 11:32), from which Abram departed for Canaan (Genesis 12:4), and to which Jacob later fled to Laban (Genesis 27:43, Genesis 28:10).
