Hanun
HAH-nun
Who is Hanun?
Hanun was the king of the Ammonites, son of Nahash, who succeeded his father on the throne (2 Samuel 10:1). When David sent envoys to comfort him, Hanun humiliated them by shaving off half their beards and cutting off their garments (2 Samuel 10:4), which touched off war between Ammon and Israel. A different Hanun is also named among those who repaired the wall of Jerusalem under Nehemiah (Nehemiah 3:13).
