Gilgal
GIHL-gal
What is Gilgal?
Gilgal was Israel's first camp west of the Jordan, near Jericho, where Joshua set up the twelve memorial stones taken from the riverbed (Joshua 4:19, Joshua 4:20). There the LORD said He had rolled away the reproach of Egypt, giving the place its name (Joshua 5:9), and there Israel later confirmed Saul as king (1 Samuel 11:15).
