Gilead

What is Gilead?
Gilead is a region east of the Jordan River. Its land drew the children of Reuben and Gad, who had great herds and saw that it was a place for cattle (Numbers 32:1). Jacob fled toward mount Gilead when he left Laban (Genesis 31:21), and the name also belongs to a descendant of Manasseh, from whom came the family of the Gileadites (Numbers 26:29).
