Who is Eliashib?
Eliashib is the name of several Old Testament men, most notably the high priest of Nehemiah's day who rose up with his brethren to rebuild the sheep gate of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 3:1) but later prepared a temple chamber for Tobiah (Nehemiah 13:7). Others bearing the name include a descendant of David's line (1 Chronicles 3:24), a priest of the eleventh course (1 Chronicles 24:12), and men listed among those who had taken foreign wives (Ezra 10:24, Ezra 10:27, Ezra 10:36).
