Who is Achish?

Achish was the Philistine king of Gath to whom David fled for fear of Saul, and before whom David feigned madness (1 Samuel 21:10). David and his six hundred men later lived under Achish at Gath (1 Samuel 27:2), and Achish so trusted David that he named him his lifelong bodyguard (1 Samuel 28:2).
