What Does God Say About Temptation?
Temptation feels private. Yours feels engineered for you, timed for your weakest hour, and stronger than anyone else's. Scripture says otherwise. It calls temptation common to man, and it insists that being tempted is not the same as sinning. Jesus Himself was tempted, which means the pull itself is not the failure. What God promises is not a life without pulls but a way out of each one. These verses map the exits.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
1 Corinthians 10:13
Three promises in one verse. Your temptation is common, not a special curse. God caps it below what you can bear. And every time it comes, an exit comes with it. The exit is real, but you have to take it while it is open, usually in the first few seconds.

James clears God's name first: God does not bait you. The pull comes from your own desire, which is harder to hear but more useful to know. What comes from inside you can be starved. And the one who holds out is not just surviving, he is being crowned.

Jesus is starving in a desert when the tempter offers bread. He answers with a verse. Not a debate, not willpower, just Scripture said out loud. He does it three times and the devil leaves. The pattern is usable tonight: a memorized word beats a strong feeling.

Jesus was tempted in all points. Whatever pulls at you pulled at Him, and He felt its full weight because He never gave in to shorten it. So the throne you approach is not staffed by someone who cannot relate. Come boldly. Mercy is stocked for exactly this moment.

Two moves, in order. Submit to God first, then resist the devil. Resistance without submission is just willpower, and willpower runs out by evening. But a person under God's authority has God's backing, and the enemy knows it. He flees from that.

The psalmist hides the word in his heart before the moment of testing, not during it. That is the whole strategy. Scripture stored in advance is armor. Scripture you meant to read is not. What you take in tonight is what you will have on hand tomorrow.
