What Does God Say About Stress?
Stress is your body doing math it was never asked to do. Deadlines, bills, other people's expectations, all of it stacks until your shoulders learn to live near your ears. Scripture does not treat pressure as a modern invention. Moses stood pinned against a sea. David slept in caves with an army hunting him. The Bible's answer to stress is not escape but a Person who carries weight differently than you do. These verses are His invitation to set some of it down.
6 Scriptures for Stress?
βCome unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.β
Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus looks at tired people and offers a trade. His yoke for yours. A yoke is a working tool, so this is not an offer to stop working. It is an offer to work paired with Someone who carries the heavier side. Rest for your soul, He says, not rest from your life.

Psalm 46:10
Be still is a command, not a suggestion. The Hebrew carries the sense of letting your hands drop. Stop striving. You can release your grip because God's does not slip. The verse ties stillness to knowledge: you settle down when you remember who is actually holding things up.

Exodus 14:14
Israel stood trapped between an army and a sea when Moses said this. The instruction sounds strange: hold your peace. Some battles are not yours to fight, only to witness. A lot of stress comes from picking up a fight God already claimed. Put it back down.

Isaiah 40:31
Wait is the hard word here. Stress insists everything must be handled now, by you, at full speed. Isaiah says strength belongs to the ones who wait, who let God set the tempo. And notice the last rung of the ladder: walking without fainting. Some seasons the miracle is not soaring. It is still being on your feet.

John 14:27
Jesus said this hours before His arrest. If anyone had a right to be stressed, it was Him, that night. Instead He hands His peace to His friends like an inheritance. Not as the world giveth. The world's peace depends on circumstances behaving. His does not.

Psalm 23:2-3
He maketh me to lie down. Sheep will not lie down while they sense a threat; the shepherd has to create the safety first. Green pastures, still waters, a soul restored. Rest is not something you achieve. It is something a Shepherd provides, and yours is good at it.
Read the full chapter βA Prayer for Stress?
God, I am carrying more than You asked me to carry. Some of this weight is real and some of it I invented, and I cannot always tell the difference anymore. Teach me to work from rest instead of running on fumes. Fight the battles that are Yours and show me which ones those are. Make me lie down the way a shepherd makes a sheep lie down: safe enough to stop watching the door. Amen.
