Tyre

What is Tyre?
Tyre was a fortified Phoenician coastal city, called a strong city on the border of Asher (Joshua 19:29). Its king Hiram supplied cedar, carpenters, and masons to David and later to Solomon (2 Samuel 5:11; 1 Kings 5:1). A great merchant city whose traders were princes (Isaiah 23:8), Tyre was the subject of a prophetic burden of judgment (Isaiah 23:1).
