Who is Shaphat?
Shaphat is the name of several men in the Old Testament. One is the father of Elisha the prophet, of Abelmeholah (1 Kings 19:16), whose son Elijah found plowing with twelve yoke of oxen and called by casting his mantle upon him (1 Kings 19:19). Others are Shaphat the son of Hori, the Simeonite sent to search out Canaan (Numbers 13:5), and Shaphat the son of Adlai, who was over the herds in the valleys under David (1 Chronicles 27:29).
