Ramah

RAY-muh

What is Ramah?

Ramah names several towns in Israel. One is listed among the cities of Benjamin (Joshua 18:25). Ramah was also the home of the prophet Samuel, where he returned, judged Israel, and was buried (1 Samuel 7:17, 1 Samuel 25:1). Jeremiah 31:15 pictures Rachel weeping for her children in Ramah, a verse Matthew applies to the slain infants of Bethlehem.
