Paran
PAY-ran
What is Paran?
Paran was a wilderness region in the Sinai peninsula where Ishmael settled after he and Hagar were sent away (Genesis 21:21). Israel camped in the wilderness of Paran during the wilderness years, and it was from there that Moses sent the spies into Canaan (Numbers 10:12, Numbers 13:3). Mount Paran also appears in poetry describing the LORD shining forth in glory (Deuteronomy 33:2, Habakkuk 3:3).
