Mamre

What is Mamre?
Mamre was a place near Hebron in Canaan where Abram settled and built an altar to the LORD (Genesis 13:18), and where the LORD later appeared to him (Genesis 18:1). The name also belonged to Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and Aner, who was an ally of Abram (Genesis 14:13).
