How to Pronounce Ittai
IT-eye
Ittai is pronounced IT-eye (ˈɪtaɪ): two syllables, stress on the first.
Who was Ittai?
Ittai the Gittite was a foreigner from Gath who refused to leave King David during Absalom's revolt, vowing to stay with him in death or life (2 Samuel 15:19, 2 Samuel 15:21), and David gave him command of a third of the army (2 Samuel 18:2, 2 Samuel 18:5). A different man named Ittai, the son of Ribai from Gibeah of Benjamin, is listed among David's mighty men (2 Samuel 23:29).
