Who was Enoch?

Enoch was the son of Jared and father of Methuselah, seventh in line from Adam (Genesis 5:18, Genesis 5:21, Jude 1:14). He walked with God, and rather than dying he was taken by God, which the New Testament calls being translated so that he did not see death (Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5). An earlier and separate Enoch was a son of Cain (Genesis 4:17).
