Bezer

What is Bezer?

Bezer was a city east of the Jordan, set apart in the wilderness in the plain country of the Reubenites alongside Ramoth in Gilead and Golan in Bashan (Deuteronomy 4:43). Joshua records it assigned out of the tribe of Reuben among the cities where a slayer could flee (Joshua 20:8), and it was later given to the Levites with her suburbs (Joshua 21:36, 1 Chronicles 6:78). A man of the same name, a son of Zophah of the tribe of Asher, is listed in 1 Chronicles 7:37.
