Bethpeor, written as one word in the KJV, was a site in Moab in whose valley Moses was buried, 'but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day' (Deuteronomy 34:6). Israel abode in that same valley when Moses set the statutes and judgments before them, and the town later fell within the inheritance of Reuben (Deuteronomy 3:29, Joshua 13:20).
