Achor

What is Achor?

Achor is the valley where Joshua and all Israel brought Achan the son of Zerah, together with the silver, the garment, and the wedge of gold (Joshua 7:24). A great heap of stones was raised over him there, and the place was called the valley of Achor (Joshua 7:26). It later marked the border of Judah (Joshua 15:7), and the prophets turned the name into an image of restoration, a place for the herds to lie down in and a door of hope (Isaiah 65:10, Hosea 2:15).
