Bible Verses for Physical Healing

Physical healing in the Bible is both a miracle and a pattern. Jesus healed in every town He walked through. Every time. God calls Himself the one who heals. These verses are for the days you need the body to cooperate again, for yourself or for someone you love. Read them while you wait on doctors, while you recover, while you hope for what only God can do. His power to heal has not retired.

6 Scriptures for Physical Healing

β€œFor I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

Exodus 15:26

This is one of the names God took for Himself at Sinai. Jehovah-Rapha, the LORD who heals. It is not a function He sometimes performs. It is part of who He is. When you pray for physical healing, you are not asking Him to do something unusual. You are asking Him to do what His name says He does.

β€œFor I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD.”

Jeremiah 30:17

Restore is a strong word. It means bringing back something that was lost. God is not in the business of leaving the body worse than He found it. Healing may come through doctors, time, medicine, or a direct touch. His commitment to restoration is not conditional on the route.

β€œIs any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”

James 5:14-15

James gives specific instructions for the sick. Call elders. Be prayed over. Be anointed. The action is not solitary. Physical healing in Scripture is often something that happens in community, with the body of believers joining their faith around someone who is weak. You do not have to pray alone.

β€œBless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.”

Psalm 103:2-3

David pairs forgiveness and healing like twin gifts from the same hand. What God offers for the soul He is also able to offer for the body. Not always in the timing we want. But the same God who clears the conscience is the one who can heal the flesh.

β€œWho his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

1 Peter 2:24

Peter connects the cross to healing. By His stripes, meaning the wounds from the whipping, ye were healed. The healing was purchased already. How and when it manifests is in God's hands, but the foundation has been paid for.

β€œAnd, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”

Matthew 8:2-3

The leper said if thou wilt, leaving the outcome to Jesus. And Jesus answered with two short words. I will. He still says that. Maybe not always in the form we ask. But His disposition toward the suffering body has never been neutral. He moves toward it.

A Prayer for Physical Healing

Lord, You know the condition of this body. Every symptom. Every test. Every hope and every fear. You said You are the LORD who heals. I believe that name. Heal what is broken, at Your pace, in Your way. Give wisdom to the doctors. Give faith to the ones praying with me. Strengthen the body while it fights. If full healing is not tonight, give me peace through the waiting. Thank You that by Your stripes I was healed already. Amen.
