Bible Verses for Healing

Healing in the Bible is never just physical. It includes the body, but it also includes the heart, the mind, and the part of you that feels broken in a way no doctor can reach. These verses are what people have prayed over hospital beds and kitchen tables for centuries when they were hoping for something to change. God is not scared of your wound. He is not put off by how long it has been there. Read slowly. Let the words do their work.

6 Scriptures for Healing

β€œHe healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

Psalm 147:3

The word picture is tender. Not a sweeping miracle, but the careful work of a physician binding up wounds one at a time. God meets the broken heart the way a hand meets a cut: slowly, patiently, with intention to heal.

β€œHeal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”

Jeremiah 17:14

Jeremiah is not hedging. He does not say maybe, or if it is Your will, or try to talk himself out of wanting it. He asks plainly. Heal me. There is a quiet confidence in how he prays, not because he thinks God owes him anything, but because he knows who God is.

β€œBut he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:5

Isaiah writes this seven hundred years before Jesus. By His stripes, the marks from the whipping. The healing you are asking for tonight was already being paid for before you were born. Whatever part of you is broken, the cost of its mending has already cleared.

β€œBless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.”

Psalm 103:2-3

David lists forgiveness and healing side by side, as if they are two edges of the same gift. What God does for the soul He does for the body too. Not always on the timeline we want. But the same hand that forgives is the hand that heals.

β€œCome unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

Jesus does not require you to be well before you come. He invites the ones carrying too much and worn thin. Rest is not a reward for getting healed. It is part of how the healing happens.

β€œConfess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

James 5:16

James ties healing to two things most of us would rather skip. Confession and being prayed for out loud by another person. Healing in Scripture is rarely private. It is what happens when a broken thing is brought into the light and held there by more than one pair of hands.

A Prayer for Healing

Lord, You know where I am hurting. You know what part of me I have been protecting because I did not think it could ever get better. I am bringing it to You tonight. The body stuff, the heart stuff, the things I do not even have words for. Heal what only You can heal, at whatever pace You know is right. Give me patience when it is slow, and gratitude when it is faster than I expected. Bind up the wounds. Meet me where the hurt is. I trust You with this. Amen.

Rest While Scripture Works on You

Press play. Let the verses land. The pacing is slow on purpose. Healing work often happens in the quiet, when you are not trying to force it. This is that kind of quiet.
