Bible Verses for Anxiety at Night
There is a specific kind of anxiety that shows up after midnight. You finally stop being busy, and the thoughts you were outrunning all day catch up. Heart rate spikes. Replay starts. The Bible has a surprising amount to say about that exact hour. God's people have been lying awake with their fears since Genesis, and Scripture is full of verses written for the dark room at 2am. Read them slowly. The voice in your head tonight is not the only one you are allowed to listen to.
6 Scriptures for Anxiety at Night
βI will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.β
Psalm 4:8
David wrote this while his son was trying to kill him. He was hiding in the wilderness, surrounded by real threats. And he slept. Not because the danger stopped. Because he trusted the One keeping watch while he rested.

Psalm 127:2

Proverbs 3:24
Solomon addresses the exact moment your head hits the pillow, when the fears start arriving. Not afraid. Sleep shall be sweet. This is prescriptive more than descriptive. It is describing what a life under God's care is supposed to look like at bedtime.

Psalm 63:6-7
David turns the wakeful hour into a practice. If you cannot sleep, remember. Think back over what God has done. The night watches were shifts of guards. You are not the only one awake in them. Use the time to count the ways He has held you in the past.

Matthew 11:28
Jesus does not say figure out your problems first. He says come. The rest He offers is the kind that works in a dark room at 2am, the kind you cannot buy with a sleep aid. Bring what is heavy. Leave it with Him. The bed can be what it is supposed to be again.

Lord, it is late and my mind will not stop. I know I have work tomorrow. I know the worry is not producing anything. And yet here I am, eyes open. Come take this. Not theoretically. Tonight. You said You give Your beloved sleep. I am asking for that gift now. Quiet the loop. Settle my body. Remind me that You are keeping watch whether I stay awake or not. I am handing the next six hours over to You. Amen.
