What Does God Say About Singleness?
Singleness gets treated like a waiting room, as if your real life starts at the altar. Scripture disagrees. Jesus never married. Paul never married, and he called his singleness a gift, not a consolation prize. The Bible does not describe single people as incomplete. It describes them as unusually free, and it promises that God Himself moves toward the solitary. These verses say what God actually says about your season, so read them without the pity other people keep handing you.

“For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.”
1 Corinthians 7:7-8
Paul writes this as a single man, and not an embarrassed one. He calls singleness a gift, the same word he uses for the gifts of the Spirit. Notice that he does not rank marriage above it. Two gifts, one after this manner, another after that. Yours is not the lesser one.

1 Corinthians 7:32-34
Paul names the one advantage single people rarely hear preached: undivided attention. A married person's care is split, and Paul says so plainly. An unmarried person can give the Lord a whole heart, a whole calendar, a whole life. That is not a runner-up prize. It is a capacity married people give up.

God says this to Israel at her most alone. Thy Maker is thine husband. It is a startling sentence, and God chose it on purpose. The covenant love you are hoping to find in a person already exists, and it is already aimed at you. Nothing about it waits for a ring.

Psalm 68:6
God setteth the solitary in families. Not always through marriage. Often through a church, a friendship that turns into kin, a table with your name at it. If the hardest part of singleness is the loneliness, this verse is the one to pray back to Him. Ask Him for the family He sets people in.

Psalm 37:4-5
Delight comes first, desires second. This is not a vending machine where delight buys you a spouse. It is a reordering. As you delight in the LORD, your desires get shaped by Him, and He commits Himself to what He has shaped. Commit thy way. Then trust. Then watch.

God said this to people stuck in a season they did not choose, exile, with years of it still ahead. Thoughts of peace, and not of evil. An expected end. He was not asking them to pretend the waiting was pleasant. He was telling them the waiting was not the end of the story.
