Who is Zeruiah?
Zeruiah was the mother of three of King David's leading warriors: Joab, Abishai, and Asahel (2 Samuel 2:18). Her sons are repeatedly named as the sons of Zeruiah, with Joab serving as commander over David's army (2 Samuel 8:16). She was also a sister of David's, listed alongside Abigail among the family of Jesse (1 Chronicles 2:16).
