What is Shittim?
Shittim was the place east of the Jordan where Israel camped before entering Canaan, and where the people fell into sin with the daughters of Moab (Numbers 25:1). It was from Shittim that Joshua sent out the two spies to view Jericho (Joshua 2:1), and from Shittim that Israel set out to cross the Jordan (Joshua 3:1).
