What is Phenice?

Phenice is the KJV name for Phoenicia, the coastal region reached by believers scattered after Stephen's death and passed through by Paul and Barnabas as they reported the conversion of the Gentiles (Acts 11:19, Acts 15:3). The same spelling also names a harbor of Crete where Paul's ship hoped to winter (Acts 27:12).
