Oseas

oh-SEE-uhs

Who is Oseas?

Oseas is the Greek and Latin form of the name of the prophet Hosea, the son of Beeri, to whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah (Hosea 1:1). The spelling appears in the Apocrypha in a list of leaders promised to the people: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Oseas, Amos, and Micheas, Joel, Abdias, and Jonas (2 Esdras 1:39). The New Testament renders the same name Osee (Romans 9:25).
