Mordecai
MAWR-deh-kai
Who is Mordecai?
Mordecai was a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin living in Shushan, who raised his cousin Esther as his own daughter after her parents died (Esther 2:5, Esther 2:7). He refused to bow to Haman, uncovered a plot against the king, and after Haman's fall was raised to be next unto king Ahasuerus and great among the Jews (Esther 3:2, Esther 10:3).
