Meah

MEE-uh

What is Meah?

Meah was a tower on the wall of Jerusalem, rebuilt in the days of Nehemiah. When Eliashib the high priest and the priests rebuilt the sheep gate, they consecrated the wall as far as the tower of Meah and on to the tower of Hananeel (Nehemiah 3:1). It is named again along the same stretch of wall in the account of the procession at the wall's dedication (Nehemiah 12:39).
