Lachish
Lah-KEESH
What is Lachish?
Lachish was a fortified city of Judah that Sennacherib king of Assyria besieged, sending his servants from there to Hezekiah at Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 32:9, 2 Kings 18:17). Centuries earlier, Joshua had encamped against Lachish and the LORD delivered it into Israel's hand, which took it on the second day (Joshua 10:31, Joshua 10:32). It was later one of the cities Rehoboam built for defence (2 Chronicles 11:9).
