What is Jabbok?
The Jabbok is a river east of the Jordan. Jacob crossed its ford with his family the night he was left alone and wrestled with a man until daybreak and was renamed Israel (Genesis 32:22). The Jabbok also served as a boundary marker of the territory taken from the Amorites and of the land of the children of Ammon (Numbers 21:24, Deuteronomy 3:16).
