Who is Holofernes?
Holofernes is the Assyrian general in the deuterocanonical Book of Judith, sent by Nebuchadnezzar to subdue the nations of the west. He besieged the Israelite town of Bethulia and was beheaded in his tent by the widow Judith, whose act delivered her people. He does not appear in the King James canon.
