What is Herem?
Herem is the Hebrew term for a thing irrevocably given over to the LORD and so withdrawn from ordinary use. The King James text calls it the devoted thing, which shall not be sold or redeemed and is most holy unto the LORD (Leviticus 27:28), and the accursed thing Israel was to keep away from at Jericho (Joshua 6:18).
