Gennesaret

What is Gennesaret?
Gennesaret is the name of a land and of a lake in the Gospels. When Jesus and those with him had gone over the water they came into the land of Gennesaret and drew to the shore (Matthew 14:34, Mark 6:53), and the men of that place sent out into all the country round about and brought to him all that were diseased (Matthew 14:35). Luke calls the water the lake of Gennesaret, where the people pressed upon Jesus to hear the word of God (Luke 5:1).
