Beth Shittah

beth-SHIT-uh

What is Beth Shittah?

Bethshittah, written as one word in the KJV, appears once, in the rout of the Midianite host before Gideon's three hundred. When they blew the trumpets and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, 'the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath' (Judges 7:22). Scripture says nothing else about the place beyond its position on that flight route.

Meaning: house of the acacia (Hebrew)
